St. Vincent DePaul Society

You are the servant of the poor, always smiling and good-humored. They are your masters, terribly sensitive and exacting master you will see. And the uglier and the dirtier they will be, the more unjust and insulting, the more love you must give them. -- St. Vincent DePaul

No act of charity is foreign to the Society

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) USA is a worldwide network of 800,000 lay Catholics who serve people in need to build a more just world. The organization's mission is to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope, and joy. SVDP members, known as "Vincentians", share their time, talent, and treasure with those in need, regardless of age, race, income, ideology, faith, ethnicity, or gender.

OUR MISSION

SVDP members serve their communities in many ways, including Thrift stores, Food pantries, Disaster recovery, Prison reentry, Advocacy, Systemic change, Spirituality resources, and Homelessness prevention.

Members seek their personal holiness through works of charity and strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to neighbors in need. The organization is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to our basic Rule.
