Communal Weddings

Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and of people.

-- Prov 3:3-4

"Spouses are therefore the permanent reminder to the Church of what happened on the Cross; they are for one another and for the children witnesses to the salvation in which the sacrament makes them sharers." Familiaris Consortio, No 13

The Bodas Comunitarias ministry at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Parish is offers a uniquely supportive environment to Catholic couples who wish to solemnize their civil union by the sacrament of Matrimony within the Catholic Church.

The preparation program and the wedding mass are offered free of charge to qualifying couples. For more information, please call Alex and Veronica Salas at (323) 245-6338.

Bodas Comunitarias is designed primarily for those who are already civilly married and have started a family, but have not celebrated their union sacramentally. This ministry provides marriage preparation in eight succinct sessions for busy, working families.

The program begins in April each year, led by experienced couples from the Catholic Marriage Encounter movement. Our sessions cover a wide range of topics crucial for nurturing a successful marital life in accordance with Catholic teaching, including the importance of communication, understanding the sacrament's significance, finances, family life and much more. Following these sessions, participating couples are given the opportunity to solemnize their marriage in a special community mass in June, allowing them to experience the fullness of the sacrament's graces and blessings with the entire parish community.
