Maria

“We have been coming to St. Vincent's for many years. Not only is the Church beautiful but there is a spiritual vibrancy that we love.”

Israel & Mercedes

“St. Vincent's has become my new family. From day one, I have been welcomed, loved, and cherished.  I am blessed for this.”

Gabriela

At St. Vincent DePaul Primary School, my teachers and friends are amazing. My family comes to St. Vincent's  because it's beautiful and I have the privilege of assisting at mass as an altar server.

  • What Should I Wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are happy that you're joining us and want you to be more focused on the Mass than on what you're wearing. We always encourage you wear your "Sunday Best", but in the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, jeans, and a shirt, and that's fine too! However, we do request that you do not wear shorts or tank tops. In general, clothing should be respectable and modest.

  • How Do I get to St. Vincent's Church?

St. Vincent’s Catholic Church is located at the corner of West Adams Blvd and Figueroa Street.  The listed street address belongs to the rectory office at 621 West Adams Blvd.

  • Where Should I Park?

Free Parking is available next to the Church at 2455 South Figueroa Street.  The parking available in the back of the rectory at 621 West Adams is very limited and available only to parish staff.  Free overflow parking is available at St. Vincent’s Primary School at 2233 South Figueroa Street.

  • Can I Bring My Small Children?

Absolutely.  Children are always welcome at St. Vincent's.  We do not have a cry room, but many of our parishioners have young families and so all of us understand. At some masses, we have children’s liturgy of the word where children under the age of 7 years are welcome.

  • I am not Catholic. Is it OK For Me to Receive Communion?

No, but allow me to explain why. Holy Communion or the Eucharist stands at the heart of the Catholic Faith. Catholics believe that the sacred host is no longer bread but is literally the Body of Jesus Christ by means of the priest who is celebrating the Mass. Sadly, mainline Christian traditions and evangelicals, while sharing a common belief on many core aspects of the Christian faith such as the Trinity, the incarnation, the inspired nature of the Scripture, and importance of baptism, do not hold a shared belief about the exact nature of the Eucharist. Many Christians and evangelicals, for example, think of Communion as merely symbolic. Catholics believe that Jesus meant what he said in the sixth chapter of the Gospel of John. The Eucharist is Jesus Christ really present to us. It is important to have the right relationship to the Catholic Church and the right understanding of the Eucharist to receive it.  If you are not Catholic, we ask that you not receive communion.  However, those not receiving the Body of Christ and Christ’s Precious Blood are invited to come forward with their hands crossed over their chests for a special blessing from the priest.

  • Am I Expected to Put Money in the Collection?

Not necessary. If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider our parish your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving to our parish on a weekly basis. You can give by check or cash during the service, or you can sign up for online giving.

  • Is the Church Wheelchair Accesible?

Yes.  There is a wheelchair ramp in the north side of the church steps away from the parking lot. If you need assistance, the ushers would be happy to provide it to you.
