Healing Mass

Healing Mass

Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. - James 5: 14-15

The parish celebrates a Spanish language healing Mass  on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.  The mass is sponsored by the Grupo De Oración.  For more information, please contact Deacon Rogelio Garcia at (626) 705-1072 or Jose Aguillón (323) 437-1614.

During a Healing Mass, the Church intercedes on behalf of the sick and the aged through the invocation of Christ's name and the power of the Holy Spirit. While the sick may hope for miraculous physical healing, the Church teaches that the faithful should have a strong faith and rely on the sure hope of attaining spiritual health and the grace to bear their sufferings. The prayers and celebrations of a healing mass are meant to provide comfort, strength, and a deeper trust in God's healing power, whether physical or spiritual.

Who Can Receive the Sacrament of the Sick During the Mass of Healing?

The reception of the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is restricted to those who on account of age or infirmity are in some grave danger. They do not have to be dying, but their condition should be serious. Those who are not aged or seriously ill are asked to come forward instead for a blessing.
